TRB PG TAMIL NEWS IN DETAIL :Consult government on re-exam for PG assistants,

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has directed the chairman of the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) to hold consultations with the government and convey a positive decision on holding re-examination for the post of Post Graduate (PG)  assistants for Tamil.

In her petition before the Bench, S Vijayalakshmi (35) from Madurai pointed out that there were innumerable printing mistakes and typographical errors in the question booklet B issued in the TRB examinations held on July 21, 2013.

Admitting her petition, Justice S Nagamuthu, on September 10, granted an interim stay on the publication of results for the written competitive examinations for direct recruitment of Post Graduate Assistants (2012-2013) for Tamil subject.Further, the Judge directed the TRB chairman to appear before the court.

When the case was taken up for hearing on Wednesday as per the earlier directions of the court, TRB chairman Vibhu Nayar appeared before the court and submitted that on the observations of the panel of experts, the board had found that there were 40 questions with errors. Hence, only the remaining 110 questions would be evaluated.
He further submitted that the candidates for the posts would be selected based on the marks obtained by them for these 110 questions.

Rejecting the submissions of the Teachers Recruitment Board chairman, Justice S Nagamuthu said that this was getting repeated every year.“If 149 questions are with errors, will the Board delete all those questions and provide marks for one question? This is very unfortunate,” said the judge.
Citing an order of the Supreme Court, he said that the chairman’s suggestion could be considered if there were just one or two errors “When one-third of the questions have errors, it is not possible to adopt such a method,” the judge said, adding that the issue did not concern the present petitioner alone. Further, the judge said that the ultimate sufferers were only students studying in government schools.
The judge also castigated the TRB Chairman for not appearing in the court during the earlier hearing in the case, despite the court’s directions. “Do you think only you have work? As a senior officer you should be role model to your subordinates,” he said.

The judge said that the only remedy in this case would be a re-examination

When the Teachers Recruitment Board Chairman submitted that he did not have the power to decide on that, the Judge directed him to discuss the issue with the government and appear before the court on September 24 with a positive decision.
